Language and Literature in the English Language Classroom

Pionia was invited to attend the first monthly event for teachers and students on the British Council Isle in the main grid of Second Life. There she attended a seminar: the Language and Literature in the English Language Classroom   at the British Council Isle   Small Events Stage, British Council Isle (184, 229, 27)

Of course she didn't go by herself she invited her friend Era Lorber a roleplayer from Avilion and was glad to find there her dear friend, Cyber Placebo. She made new friends, too... Artemisa Pessoa, Golondrina Bracken, Nic Streusel and Creed Juran

The session was really nice. She got the chance to meet (London Inventor) Francesca Beard, who's one of the UK's leading performance poets. You can find some of her work at the BritLit site, they supports a major piece of her performance poetry. The materials there have been designed to support a series of workshops and performances of ‘Chinese Whispers'.

According to the BriLit site

ISTE 2010

Last year, Pionia registered to the NECC Ning for ISTE’s conference. Out of curiosity, but this year as they are getting ready for ISTE 2010 conference. She's planning to participate fully in SL. Visiting their new ning, She found out that the ISTE 2010 Conference Ning Network, is where educators interested in educational technology connect to other conference attendees whether they attend physically or virtually to extend the conversations happening at the conference. There she also found this interesting video.

Where she learned about the journey of several educators working and learning in Second Life. Together with Kittygloom Cassady as a host, she could have and idea on how ISTE Island creates a powerful educator network and supports this ongoing collaboration within Second LIfe.

In the ning people participating will have the chance of:

As part of their campaign, they have used a number of social networking tools to create a platform for education and discussion about climate change - including creating a presence in Second Life - OneClimate Island (SLurl).

OneClimate Island provides a space where visitors can meet others interested in climate change and environment issues from around the world, as well as engage in a number of educational tools and resources. The main parts of the island are:
The Eco-Village, with exhibitions and simulations of low-carbon livingThe Transport Cafe - which provides information on lower carbon emissionsRenewable Energy - the facts and the d…

Pionia has got a blog!

Well, this is our first entry.. I knew Pionia would have to get a blog sooner or later... There are so many interesting things to blog about in Second Life.

Second Life... What's Second Life? many will ask.. According to their site: " Second Life is a free online virtual world imagined and created by its Residents. From the moment you enter Second Life, you'll discover a fast-growing digital world filled with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity."

As a matter of fact, They encourage educators to go inworld to meet other educators and learn how…
