Immersive Storytelling: from Virtual Worlds to Virtual Reality

According to research, Virtual Reality is informed by the use of virtual worlds for education. We present the main challenges addressed and the outcomes produced during a five weeks workshop earlier this year with 8 moderators and 110 participant English teachers, an EVO session organized by TESOL International. The workshop "Immersive Storytelling In Virtual Worlds" focused on the skills, methods, and techniques required for promoting the use of VWs for Transmedia Storytelling in the new classroom and it touched upon the use, methods, and techniques of VR in storytelling.

AltspaceVR is a platform that today the platform is considered a place for live virtual events. In addition to a wide variety of events, AltspaceVR is an active social platform where individuals can gather, talk, collaborate, and be co-present in small to large groups. Currently, AltspaceVR is the only social VR platform that allows for large groups of individuals to be co-present in a single space. The platform has also introduced a technology called FrontRow which will allow for audience-scaling into the thousands.
