A visit to machu Pichu in Peru SL

Image
Well, on our Second visit to SL  we'll be visiting Machu Picchu in Second Life a proyect of Universidad San Martin de Porres (USMP).  According to Wikipedia .... Machu Picchu ( Quechua : Machu Pikchu [ˈmɑtʃu ˈpixtʃu] , "Old Peak") is a pre-Columbian 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 metres (7,970 ft) above sea level . [1] [2] It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru , which is 80 kilometres (50 mi) northwest of Cusco and through which the Urubamba River flows. Most archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472). Often referred to as "The Lost City of the Incas", it is perhaps the most familiar icon of the Inca World . We'll meet at URBE EFL Center in SL at 2:00 pm (Venezuelan Time). 11:00 am. EVO Tesol 2011 village - Reflections Week 1

Image
Well, Pio is fascinated at what's happening at the Tesol 2011 VILLAGE (Language Learning and Community Building in Second Life). The kick off was a great opportunity to meet new educators that come to SL for the first time. They are very lucky because they got just to the place where the most experienced avatars live and work to help other educators. New SL  and more experience SL language educators  had the chance to try to set up their microphones and were given the chance to introduce themselves and have a first pick at what holodecks are and got the chance to visit the Piazza. It was a really nice way to start the sessions. The idea of this 5 week EVO Session Adventure that repeats every January, (thanks to these seccions Pionia was born), is to facilitate the process of learning to use 3D worlds by helping educators to develop basic SL skills which are appropriate for and relevant to teaching and learning foreign languages. Participants are introduced to various la...

Introducing Cypris Chat!!!

Image
Well, on her traveling and adventuring Pio got to Cypris Chat Island , a Virtual World English Learning Community in Second Life and what she found there was a wonderful community of educators and students. Visiting their website , Pio read their credo: SHARE -- RESPECT-- RESPOND -- BE ACTIVE and also found a really smart idea of what learning English should be about:  "Learning English should be a way of life instead of a struggle to achieve." - Professor Merryman, Founder Today she received an invitation on the chat group to join a class on grammar and also to participate in a Christmas group photo. Of course, she loved the idea, since she's been there before observing classes. After the class and before going to the photo place, she found a note card that explains what this community is about... Professor Merryman wrote it. But let's Pio introduce this wonderful educator first: Also known as Mike McKay M.Ed Tech - is the founder of Cypris Chat , a not...
