3rd Annual Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education Conference (VWBPE)
Last year we participated in the 2nd Vitual Worlds Best Practices in Education Conference..it was really good... this year, Pionia just got this invitation.......

The Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education (VWBPE) conference is about to get underway, and you're invited! The events will run for 48 hours straight and will include everything from keynotes by top educators like Karl Kapp and Tony O'Driscoll, and tours of some of Second Life's most innovative and inspiring sims, to fun social events like a 1950's rock 'n roll party, a fashion show, and skydiving. More than 5,000 avatars are expected to attend, making VWBPE 2010 something you won't want to miss.

The Virtual Worlds Story Project will be hosting a panel discussion about Story Quests followed by a tour of The Uncle D Story Quest. We'd love to have you attend. The panelists for this immersive and thought provoking discussion will be:
Jenaia Morane (Jena Ball): Co-founder of TVWSP who will discuss how Story Quests came to be and invite participants to go on a creative journey. For more about Jenaia, please visit: www.tvwsp.com
Jokay Wollongong (Jo Kay): Founder of the Jokaydia sims and educator extraordinaire who will discuss how she and her Jokaydians have participated in and found ways to use Story Quests. To learn more about Jokay, please visit: http://jokaydia.com/
Ariella Languish (Ariella Furman): The Founder of Framed in 3D and the incredibly talented creator of the Uncle D machinimas. She will be speaking about using machinima as a teaching tool. To learn more about Ariella and her work, please visit: www.Framedin3D.com
Allen Partridge (DoctorPartridge Allen): A Professor at Indiana University of PA (Simulations & Games) and Shockwave / Director Evangelist for Adobe. Allen has a deep interest in both 3D education and the technology that fuels it, he will be discussing how best to assess immersive, interactive learning environments.

This is an example of one session....... The Handheld Aumented Reality Project (HARP) Using GPS.enabled handheld computers to teach. Presented by Dr. Patrick O'shea from Harvard University on March 28th, 2009.
The VWBPE Conference provides opportunities for virtual world communities to showcase projects, courses, events and research that lead to best practices in education. The end result of collaborating, sharing, and co-construction of knowledge during the conference is the creation of innovative and immersive environments in which virtual world residents can learn, work, and play.
