All about the VWMOOC22!

 


The eighth annual Second Life MOOC (renamed the Virtual World MOOC in 2018) started in 2014. VWMOOC22 will take place from September 1-30, 2022. 

The theme of the current MOOC is “Connecting in Virtual Worlds. Communities of Practice” 

There is a plethora of communities in virtual worlds promoting education and learning through connecting online via web technologies such as Second Life. The MOOC will focus on connecting online for collaborative learning and teaching worldwide through virtual worlds like Second Life, Digiworldz, Kitely, Minecraft, Sansar, AltspaveVR, or OpenSim. The live presentations will include the speakers’ reflective process on teaching and learning in fully online and blended learning formats. 

VWMOOC22 is for educators, schools, and public and private businesses that wish to provide training in virtual worlds. Weekly badges and a final certificate of completion will be available for free. 

There are 2 VWMOOC22 learning environments: Moodle for Teachers and VWMOOC Headquarters 


To attend the presentations in-world in Second Life. You will need to get an avatar by registering in Second Life if you don't already have one. We recommend you to Download Firestorm Viewer for Second Life on your computer.

Once you have your avie and Firestorm Viewer, Just copy the following landmark https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Chilbo/167/53/97%20 in your Firestorm viewer. It will take you to our headquarters. This is a tutorial to help you get started.



We also have an exhibition with different presentations where participants will be able to review the slides and get resources from each one of the presenters.

9th Annual Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education will be held on March 9-12, 2016. This year's theme is Horizons. The VWBPE Conference is a completely virtual conference that is conducted using simulated environments. Participants experience the conference through a virtual reality type setting including conference rooms, theatres, exposition halls, meeting spaces, and other types of venues similar to a brick and mortar type conference. Virtual Worlds: Second Life

Hello, there! It's been a while since  Pio's last post. She promises she will be sharing her experiences in virtual worlds again. This year we have several great events and many more adventures happening in Second Life, Kitely, Open Sim and other virtual worlds. WE were invited by Rob Howard the founder of EFLtalks to participate in a really interesting project called EFLtalks 10 in 10 for terms .  This project is about building a teacher's video glossary of day to day terminology that teachers and trainers use.
